Closing Down Sale

We are going to be even more busy this weekend, We have some friends coming round for a meal on Saturday evening. Barry is cooking three or four different curries, one of them being my favourite, Aubergine curry with chickpeas and Tamarind Chutney, I absolutely adore and dream about this curry. I think you either love or loathe aubergines, I love 'em! He made a Lamb curry last night, I had a bit for my supper and it was so delicious. I think he is also making a chicken one and a salmon one, which is my second favourite. I am also getting used to the chillies now, I don't really notice the heat too much but don't tell Barry will you, he might stop making me that tasty mouth cooling yogurt with ground toasted cumin seeds...nah, he'll still make it for me. I am making a Lemon Meringue Roulade from this book by Mary Berry(a layer of meringue, a layer of home made lemon curd & a layer of lightly whipped cream all rolled up and dusted with icing sugar) and also I am making one of Delia's delicious chocolate recipes. I think we may be rather full up after this blow out! My prunes have been soaking in the alcohol over night.....loads to do....

Remember I told you about some yarn I got from that Yarn shop in Bideford that was closing down? Well, can you imagine the bargains I got when I went into the shop about 30minutes before it closed last Saturday? 50p a ball of everything....it wasn't meant to be, but the chap behind the counter had had enough of the day and he just kept letting me have bargain after bargain. This Rowan Denim is the biggest bargain really, enough to make this........I can't wait to start knitting it but I have something so delicious on my needles right now, I'll save that for another day.
Here's a close up of my finished shawl, it is a dream of a shawl, thanks again Rosie x

This Debbie Bliss Pure Silk was £2 a skein, I just had to have it though....

We all know why I photographed this Denim Yarn in the bag don't we? Cream leather sofa? Denim? hmmm....
I am going to make some pretty flannels out of this cotton yarn..

So, everything was 50p a ball except for the Silk which was £2 a skein and the white cotton which was £1.50 a ball, oh and the book...

I have an ear ache today, it developed slowly over the whole of yesterday leaving me feeling a bit feverish and grouchy...GGgggrrrr...so much to do and not feeling like anything other that sitting and knitting!

I am off to get my legs waxed later, a new beautician shop has just opened in the village and I thought I would give them a go. I'm not really looking forward to the pain actually, especially as I feel a bit precious to start with. I am a qualified sugaring practitioner , in fact it was my job for about 15 years, a great job to do around family etc.....but what I am trying to tell you is that I should really know better than to have my hairs removed when I am under the weather, but I am going anyway, I haven't had it done properly for about 6 months, there are only some many angles you can get yourself into when you use an epilady! My hairs are very weak now though, they've been pulled out once a month for about the last 17 years so they don't need much persuasion to come out, in fact they'll probably throw themselves at the beautician!......in my dreams maybe!

Have a good week-end....

My mouth was watering at both the food and the lovely yarns!!! We had our Knit & Natter session at the library today which is really going well. Does Barry share recipes?? I love aubergines too. It's curry tonight for us - left it cooking in the crockpot this morning.
Good luck with the waxing...ouch!!

I want to come for dinner, that chocolate recipe has my mouth drooling and I love the taste of lemon.

What a GLORIOUS haul of yarny goodness! I must say that is one stunningly beautiful cardi in the photo. Happy you! (again, so much drooling on my part with all that yarn, they're so beautiful)

OUCH on the waxing business, OUCH!
Good luck with it!

I hope you have a lovely weekend with all that food, and how lucky to get all that lovely yarn, hope the pain of leg waxing is enough of a distraction to make your earache clear up!

I haven't had breakfast yet, and now you simply have me drooling over the descriptions of the currys. (Sadly Ed hates curry with a passion.)

Then you have to tease more with that incredible haul you scored! Yarn envy.

And to top it off, you're getting pampered! :-)
