A Fairy Cake

Well, we made it to Devon, I took a large sponge cake already prepared with us so that I could decorate Emilia's birthday cake when we were down there. I must admit, I don't altogether enjoy icing cakes but I really love what they look like when they are made. I have discovered two things. One is that you can make a good skin colour if you mix the white fondant icing with a highly saturated instant coffee mixed with a tiny amount of boiling water and a drop of pink colouring and the other discovery is that Barry likes to eat fairy legs....just before I put them on the cake they disappeared. However, he is very good at mixing the colour paste into the icing which I think maybe the bit I dislike the most.....
Millie had some new in-line skates for one of her presents, she took to them really well, Millie is good at ice skating so we sort of new she would be good at this. In fact she is very sporty. Isn't her dress so pretty? Her Mum made it for her, she also spent a long time making Madeleine a princess outfit but Maddie found it a bit itchy and changed a couple of times into something more comfy....
Jez was such a star, he just had the children organised from start to finish...not too many of these special Daddy's around, Ali made the most delicious party food too, her millionaires shortbread (from this book) was just amazing and the pizza....yummy!
We really had a lovely time in Devon and I truly wish we could have spent longer....
I think I need some antibiotics.....

I think that is the sweetest cake I have ever seen. You could never have known that pouring your heart into Millie's cake would make a stranger's day! :)
