Waiting for The Postman

I feel a bit like my life is on hold....all this waiting simply has to come to an end and soon, within the next two weeks in fact. My patience is not too good though, especially when every day the postman either walks past the house or just delivers more bills and junk mail. I want to know what I will feel like when the information I am waiting for has been dealt with. It's a life turning moment for both me and Barry. What's another two weeks compared to over two years of anxiety? It's a bit like running out of oxygen at the top of a high mountain, hope we can do that bouncy free falling down to earth OK, that surely is the best bit......talking in riddles again, I know...but you'll all know soon enough. I really want to make the person that has to contact me, get on with with it but I know that I simply have to wait....not easy!

Barry and I spent a lovely weekend with Ali, Jez, Millie and Maddie. I needed to see them all. Barry and Jez went to a beer festival and Ali and I did lots of other stuff including visiting the really good fabric shop nearby. I wish there were more fabric shops here in Cambridgeshire, they all seem to be closed or closing and only have tatty old stuff left. The best one locally is the cycle shop in Ely, they deal mainly with quilting materials in there and whilst I am in my quilty mood it suits me just fine.

On the way back from Devon we met up with my lovely boss from my old job at Southampton University. Her daughter, Katie is getting married at Highcliffe Castle, in Dorset and we have been asked if we'd do the wedding photography. Katie has had some problems over the years and Ann, her Mum, my old boss, told Katie I would be perfect for the job. She says that I'm very caring and a bit wacky so I'll soon put Katie at her ease! Sums me up quite well I think heheh!!

Saw the consultant yesterday, got some funky photos of the inside of my shoulder. (Barry was really having a good look at them last night, I think he loves how I look on the inside too!!) It seems that I need keyhole surgery (no surprise there) to remove the boney build up in the socket and to trim the raggy bits of a couple of tendons which are inflamed all the time because they have no room to maneuver in the joint. I'm going to wait until Maisie has gone back to school after the summer holidays,at least I can drive short distances as my shoulder is right now and I would really hate to have to sit still with an eleven year old wanting to do things, I want to do things too!!

I am knitting a raggy bathroom mat out of some pieces of cotton fabric cut into strips, trouble is it is using up such a lot of the fabric, it is very heavy too but I think it will look a bit special if I happen to have enough fabric to finish it. The reason I am making a new bathmat is because the one we got from Ikea is perishing, it looks fine on the top, all loopy white cotton but the rubberised back has gone all sticky. It almost lifts the lino (I know it's not lino but I can't think of its name right now) up off the floor with it when it needs washing. Eugh, I don't like it any more. I think its fabric softener that rots the rubber!!

I know what you're waiting for and I hope it gets there SOON!
How fabulous, a wedding job where you can really be yourself and I love it that you're so caring and wacky to boot!
Hang tough with the shoulder...I know it's not easy, but I'll be sending soothing thoughts your way.
I never ever put fabric softener in with rugs or towels...for one it interferes with the absorbancy thing...although I hadn't thought about it rotting the rubber....
Best of luck with the postie.

Good luck with the knitting and the postman! It sounds like it could be the fabric softener to me!

I hope the mail comes soon. Your shoulder description sounds very painful - it will be good to get it sorted. Looking forward to seeing the bath mat - sounds really clever. Thanks for your comment on my blog - I was having a bit of a blue moment. Mary
