Freesias, A Rose, Two Pincushions and a Ktog in Ely

For the first time in ages I actually felt like taking some photos...the Mother's Day flowers from Edward and Michelle have opened to perfection and I just had to take some pictures.
I used our Nikon D300 and my Lensbaby2, its quite a tricky little lens to use but I love the arty focus it produces. There is a new one out now, the Lensbaby3, but I will stick with the one I've got. I quite like using the Lensbaby Macro Kit as well, it gets in really close and the focus gets a bit easier I find,
Just to show my friend Christiane that I am now using her pincushion over the 30 year old one I had been using. Barry transferred all my pins into it and he even found loads of sewing needles deep inside the old pincushion, I wonder what stories those needles could tell....I must have made hundreds of sewn items over the years.
On Thursday evening I did something that I had wanted to do ever since I had been in contact with Rosie. I went to a KTog meeting! The only difference was that this meeting was held not too far away from me in Ely, I find that the Cambridge meetings are a bit far to travel in an evening but I might just get to a Saturday afternoon session one of these days...
It's not only knitting that goes on at a KTog, Emily was dong a wonderful cross stitch of a face which looked remarkably like Marilyn Munroe when I glanced over at her work and saw the upside down chart.
I had been wanting to meet Jayne for ages. We had been conversing a bit on Ravelry and the occasional blog post but the story doesn't stop there. Just before Christmas, I was at our Photography Club's Christmas do and I noticed someone sort of looking my way. Amazingly, Jayne's husband attended the same club and as we were eating our meal, Jayne heard me talking about knitting to someone on our table and her ears pricked up but she wasn't sure if it really was the Marianne she knew off the Internet so she said nothing but sent me an online message a few days later and the rest is history! Isn't life amazing at times?

Glad you found your photo mojo. Your pictures are lovely. Glad you found a Ktog that is not too far from home. I love the pincushion. Now that is really truw love when Barry transferred all your pins over. I too have a pincushion that is older than yours! Stands to reason as I am older lol

Beautiful pics Marianne. And isn't it a small world?! Coincidences like this seem to happen so often don't they. And how nice to meet one of your blog friends in the flesh, I'd like to meet some of the lovely ladies I chat to, who knows maybe we'll have a similar "small world" crossing of paths.

I think that rude blogger ate my comment (if not sorry for the double!) I said Beautiful pictures! Then I said I've been thinking about the D300 a lot lately. I'd sure like to have one with its low-light capabilities for the wedding. The kids have hired a fabulous wedding photographer, but you know us mothers -- we need to have pics of our own LOL!

fabulous photots and I'm so very happy that you've made it to a KTog and met Jayne. I've just seen that your wedding clicker says "1 month, 1 week, 1 day": exciting!

WOW! That is a very cool story! Huh.

We have a cabin in Ely! (Ely, Minnesota - a far cry from where your Knit Night was hosted) I wondered where the name came from. Perhaps some settler from the old country!

Love your pictures. They are . . . divine!
