Happy Things

It was so sad to leave my lovely Mum yesterday morning, she made us some gorgeous sandwiches from her homemade bread and some gorgeous ham she cooked the day before. We had drinks and cakes too, a yummy picnic that was sort of eaten before we got on the ferry at lunchtime. Mum took this photo of us just before we left, Barry looks a bit worried but he really wasn't..although I do know he was very sad to leave as we had had such a wonderful time even though there was a bit of anxiety at one stage....

When we had got off the enormous ferry, we went to see my Aunt Sally and her husband Allan. I'd never met him before but he was lovely. They were in the throes of moving to a wonderful house across the road from their old house. This new house is so full of character and will be amazing when they have finished with it. The larder they have down stairs is bigger than our kitchen that we have at the moment! The house reminded me of Dr Finlay's Casebook for some reason.

There were some lovely things to come home to, my eldest son Edward and his fiance Michelle sent me this pretty bouquet of flowers...I can't stop smiling! Thank you, you two are very naughty xxxx
This is a photograph that my Valentines swap pal sent to me of the goodies I sent her. Linda kindly sent me a photograph as I forgot to photograph the contents myself...

However, my package pales into insignificance when you see the wonderful parcel she sent to me!
I was totally spoiled, really, I mean really spoiled...
Look at that gorgeous sock wool, I can't wait to knit with it.... Linda had made me a pretty little bag and inside were some heart stickers, some tiny clogs and a pretty little pink organza bag....
Linda's sewing is stunning and the pin cushion will be a new favourite of mine, my old pin cushion has just about bitten the dust so it will be put to good use. inside the tiny organza bag is this darling little charm which has the words 'hand made' on it. I think I will make this into a stitch marker. The gorgeous gift tags will be used for my bridesmaids presents...thank you Linda, I love it all and will dive into the fruit gums any second! I really think you should have a blog Linda...your work is stunning!

Also stuffed through my letterbox was the March Socktopus package. I love the yarn and the pattern created by Erqsome looks like it will be a fun knit! I have been wanting some sock blockers forever and these are especially beautiful. Really heavy and the wood smells delicious! Look at those naughty heart socks already posing on them?!
Oh and what relief to find these two little beauties on our doorstep when we got in...I CAN go on honeymoon now!! Hurrah!!
After my visit to the post office this morning, I came in and made myself a coffee and grabbed a very large slice of this yummy Bara Brith that my Mum made for us to bring back with us. I'll definitely be making some of this!
Oh and to finish, I just thought I should show you the gorgeous pin cushion again...there are more things that have made me happy today but I think I have shared enough with you for now! I better go and do some unpacking...eugh!

I love seeing Barry in the Peace Fleece Cobblestone sweater!
What a fabulous parcel of gifts, I agree, Linda needs a blog, that pincushion is a Beauty, as are the little bags.
Congrats on the passports :^)

That picture of the two of you is so cute -- well, ok, Barry doesn't seem too sure, but you're looking just adorable! What a wonderful load of goodies you have. Now I'm off to look at that recipe and go look at Barry's sweater again!
