Now it all makes so much more sense. The little joining flowers fit so much better in the holes I have created by joining the strips to the side and top as I go. This is still a fiddly project but very beautiful and all the different colour combinations will keep me intrigued to the end I am sure. I must darn in those ends as I work though. I crochet in the ends as I finish each flower until the last row which has to be darned in.

Gave the scarf a bit of careful thought and realised that you need to connect two of the petals by the two middle dc’s, and not one as the illustration would suggest. I am now joining the large flowers by four petals, two on the left (you might be joining them on the right as I am left handed)and two petals on the flower above. My photos might help?

Made another strip but joining them as suggested was puzzling me. I carried on hoping it would start to make sense. It doesn’t lie flat but I though that maybe it would respond to some steam when finished.

I have made four of the large flowers (they are rather small for the word large, measuring something like 2inches across) so far and it is looking very pretty
Can you see the size of the hook? I think this is going to take me quite a while to complete. I adore the feel of the fine crochet though.
I have to make rows of five flowers in all different combinations of the 11 colours and then join those rows with smaller filler flowers, I am looking forward to that bit as the instructions aren’t too clear as I want to do it right and make it look like the picture on the pattern."
Glad I took so much with me, we did a lot of driving around!

Perhaps when you become my new neighbour, you might teach me to crochet. I need one of those scarves. It is beautiful. Really like the cardi too - is it for me?!!!!! (When are you moving in?)
