Handspun!

Thank you for all the positive comments about my Snuggle Sock pattern, I am so excited about the fact that it is selling well! Ali, has already made one for Maddies's teacher's new baby boy and it looks beautiful. If you are on Ravelry, you can see Ali's version here.   She used Sirdar Big Softie for her version and it only took 200grammes whereas my version in the Rowan Big Tuft took 35o grammes! You can still find Big Tuft if you google it, usually at a bargain price too, somehow this 'Sock' seems just perfect for a gift for a winter baby and very quick to knit too.  I think it would be equally lovely made in a cotton yarn for a summer baby, can imagine cuddling a tiny baby, just wearing a nappy, in a cotton sock? Oooh quite delicious.....I am working on a new way to knit the sock toe on two needles and maybe a hoody top bit instead of the hat?, any updates will be sent out to those that have purchased the pattern.

Well I am making myself a cardigan from Jo Sharp Knit magazine issue 7.  A wonderful person on Ravelry (too many mentions in one blog post if you ask me!) sent me a copy over from Oz, how flipping kind is that? Amazing place this internetland! I found a video link to the cardi here, you might want to turn the sound off....I am using exclusively my handspun yarn and so far it is working out well.  It is mostly Shetland and silk and has a wonderful drape to it, only the yoke to finish now and the yarn for that is waiting to be wound into yarn cakes!
Barry bought me a drum carder on Friday and I love it so much, but not as much as I love him, bleugh, sorry,too much info for a Tuesday morning eh? I digress.....but honestly, it is a spinner's dream and creating batts is so addictive, the one above is my very first one I made using merino, silk, alpaca and a bit of angelina, so very soft and very pretty.  I might spin this up today.

I handcarded some rolags for this cardi, three graduating colours using merino, alpaca and angora, oh and of course a little girl has to have a bit of sparkle added too.
I am a bit cross that there isn't an awful lot of room in the cardi, Imogen has had a growth spurt since we last saw her at Christmas, still it should fit her for a little while.....

I suppose I should now go and get into the ironing pile which is almost to the ceiling in the spare room.....hmmmmph!
