This arrived one morning in April.....
Which soon turned into this! My new Majacraft Rose....I call her Rozza, after a rose my Mum used to grow when I was a child, Rosa Mundi
I have even been spinning some funky coils, now that was such fun and a bit scary and I'm not even sure if I have done them right. I spun the rest of the fibre into some chunky yarn, Navajo plied to keep the colours separate.
I couldn't tell you about Rozza until now because I had to keep it a surprise that my Ashford Traditional was going to be a birthday present for Ali from me and Barry and Jez, Ali's husband. She has been spinning already and I think she'll do fine. I took with me some of my hand dyed fibre for her to play with, I can't wait to see what she spins up. It's not Ali's birthday until 9th May but we couldn't get to see her until after her birthday, so this weekend it was!
This is Maddie showing off her new cardi from Grandma, I made it out of 2.5 skeins of sock yarn. It is knitted on larger needles than usual for sock yarn, but there is alpaca in it so it has fluffed up a bit too. The yarn, Caress, is from the Natural Dye Studio and the pattern is from Denmark, which did confuse me at times! The pattern is called Pebbles and can be found in my projects on Ravelry
This cute little top is called Fiona's Top and is by the same designer as the cardigan, Sanne Bjerregaard, she designs such lovely patterns but the translation from Danish to English can be confusing...I have knitted one of these before for Imogen who's two. This one is tiny, 3-6 months size for a special little girl. I love the yarn, another one from The Natural Dye Studio, sadly discontinued, Nino.
Thank you so much for all the well wishes for our anniversary, as I said earlier, we went to Devon and spent the Saturday at Diggerland! Everyone had a great time and you can see all the photos if you click the picture below.
