I'm spinning around....

I went on a course on the 2nd November.  In London, at the very wonderful Socktopus shop in Chelsea. How posh!  It was a course run by the very talented and knowledgeable spinner Diane Mulholland. I got so much from that day even though it was a spindle spinning class.  This Sunday is the second of the spindle spinning course and we get to have a go at wheel spinning.
Trouble is that back in the summer Jo came round to pick up her knitting machine table that Barry and I collected from an ebay purchase.  Jo brought her two spinning wheels with her and I had a go, I blogged about it I think...
So armed with my spindle and wheel spinning knowledge I have been spinning on my own wheel.  This is the first thing I have made from some of my own handspun yarn.  Which incidentally was  a couple of squishy batts blended by Jo.  This is a beret and it is called Amy.  I have finished it now and it is blocking on a dinner plate. I will post a photo when the light is better.  The yarn is lovely, it has a halo from some mohair and a drape from a bit of silk, I love it and I might even wear it!

I am now completely hooked on spinning...will this love of fibre ever deminish?  There is something ver satisfying about knitting up your own handspun.

Oh and my house is now getting rather messy as I'm not keeping p with the housework too well.  I blame the internet and spinning for that!

Awww, you've been doing house stuff for a few weeks now. You need a knitty break now and then. That color is fantastic!

Yummy. I know what batts your referring to, colourwise, and your spinning is beautiful! Love the beret.
Spinning. Love. and I suspect the love affair with the fibre will not diminish, I know mine hasn't. I can't get enough of it.

What a wonderful first hand spun project - I am seriously in awe. I predict that you will soon be as addicted to spinning as the rest of us!
