A Few Days Apart

Barry has just phoned me from Guernsey Airport, he has to spend a few days in Guernsey doing some work.  He had to get up at 4.15 this morning and after his alarm went off I couldn't go back to sleep.  So, although I tried to sleep after he shut the front door, I couldn't so I came downstairs and did some knitting.  About 7am I had my shower and curled my hair.  I can't remember the last time I got going so early!

Anyway, I have almost finished yet another pair of fingerless mitts.  These mitts are for one of the men in my life, totally made in twisted rib out of some of my chunky handspun Corridale yarn.  They have a lovely crisp texture and cling to the hand nicely. I don't feel guilty knitting so early either, as yesterday was spent finalising three photo orders and one new wedding booking which took most of the day.  Barrianne-Photos is getting busier, which is great!

Well really I just wanted to say that I am not used to being here on my own, we don't like being apart and I know that sounds soppy but it is true.  Hope the job gets finished and Barry can return on Saturday....

Later on today I am having my legs waxed, it always hurts more when I feel cold and it is freezing here right now. I'll put the heater in the car to blow on my legs so they warm up before I get to the appointment.

We have put up a few decorations, the tree is decorated and looks pretty and twinkly which pleases me.  Barry and Tobi put some lights on the big fir tree in the front garden too, woohoo, The Griswolds have landed! Ali and her family are arriving on the 22nd to spend Christmas with us so this year, there is even more meaning to whole event. Do go and visit Ali's blog, there is a photo and a little video of my gorgeous granddaughters, ooh I can't wait to see them all!

I really don't like posts without pictures so I'll leave you with one of my workroom. All my boxes full of all my special bits and bobs. I love it in there now that Dens has sorted me out.  I even have two drawers of sewing patterns, just like a shop!

Must dash, I have a dining room which needs some festive attention!

I hope you survive until Barry comes home!!

Your storage unit looks like one we have in our study from IKEA. I'm impressed with your neatness.

Oh, do you think she'd come and sort me out? I need a Denise in my life!

Love your workroom - if you lose me at Christmas you know where I'll be!

Hi Marianne,
wanted to say that I love the storage cabinet. Where did you get it from? I am looking for something similar to put in my sewing room to try and get more organized. Good luck!
And as for being soppy, you aren't. Ray and I will be married 31 years on Dec 18th and I hate to be away from him for 1 night. His job takes him out of town for 3 nights a week most weeks so I've become use to it but still don't like it. Do fun things and the time will fly by.
