Royal Wedding Day 1981

I thought I would share an old photo of me with you all ...

This was taken in Romsey, Hampshire UK on the Royal Wedding Day 1981, I was 24 years old..... Charles and Diana travelled to Romsey to stay at Broadlands with Lord and Lady Mountbatten before going on their honeymoon. We waited ages in the heat to see the royal couple...I was all hot and bothered and remember telling my Mum that I didn't want another flipping photo...but I'm glad she persisted cos this is a great memory jerker for me. I didn't realise how lucky I was to live in such a pretty town until that day...
Oh and that pretty little girl is Faerynuff! , and the little boy is Edward, he's now 27!! I remember that day as if it was yesterday.... Two of my very precious children!
I made my outfit, it was a Calvin Klein pattern from Vogue and my sister made Ali's dress and Ed's wonderful sailor suit, both Vogue patterns and woh the memories...I can remember looking through the pattern books with my sister, sewing was a big part of my life then, I still sew but love knitting and crochet more.....

A wonderful photo and memory. I remember gettting up very early that day and watching the wedding.

I too was once an avid sewer, but like you knitting has taken over. Sometimes I see sewing blogs and wonder if I will be lured back in. But I enjoy the process of knitting so much more.

Marianne, (that's still a bit odd, ya know?) what a beautiful post, what a lovely photo of you and your children, seriously, absolutely stunning!
What a wonderful memory and thank you so much for sharing!

I sewed all the kids' clothes when they were little....haven't done much sewing lately, the last thing I sewed, it was all by hand, a little linen dress for Gracie...she's outgrown it of course, I need to make her another dress, have the fabric and everything...so much to do, so little time....

How lovely you looked! That's such a nice memory and it sure brought back memories for me as well, Marianne.

I used to sew all my kids clothes too and I will never forget sewing my daughter's going away dress for her wedding day. She was so slim but the bodice was over 3 feet across with huge pleats in it. I wonder where that is now.

Also, for all the grandchildren, I've knit a shawl with very fine yarn and hopefully the kids have kept these somewhere safe! LOL

Lots of work!

How funny, Millie smiles just like that sometimes!

I remember that day well, I was only about 6 months older than Millie is now. I remember that dress too.

Gorgeous photo of Maddie - she's not well at the moment and keeps telling me that she has the snots!
