Maeve is Coming to Stay!!

I am so excited, my Mum is coming to stay. I pick her up from Stansted Airport on Friday and she is staying until the 12th November. It is a bit of a trek for her though. She lives in Enniskillen and has a long bus ride to the airport in Belfast. We always have a lovely time together. I wonder what we will get up to???

Here are the finished snugs

Not sure I am totally happy with them, for one thing the colours don't contrast as well as they do in the store....and I got creases in them, they simply wouldn't come out! I will felt these by hand next time, so I have more control over the felting process. I think they will look cute on though . I'll make them again, a quick knit and I loved doing the clever bit of embroidery on them.

I am a bit sad about this cardigan, I bought a kit and there isn't enough of the 'blue lagoon' colour. I haven't even gone all the way round with the border yet, still have to knit the neck ties and do both sleeves which have a band of the colour and another bit of moss stitch on the cuffs. I have contacted my supplier, hopefully I will be sent some more of the yarn so I can finish it. This kit was expensive!!! I have to add though, that it feels and looks beautiful!
So, while i wait to hear about that cardigan kit, I wound a couple of the skeins of this gorgeous (but not so soft to knit with)yarn. Any guesses as to what I am making here? The yarn is Peace Fleece....it is stunning. So many gorgeous flecks of colour in a neutral, beigy brown background. Apparently, this yarn softens with washing and wearing and it has a lovely mohair halo to it as well. It's a bit like knitting with expensively beautiful string!

Tiennie guessed it! This is a Cobblestone for Barry...clever old Jared!

....and how about this pile of loveliness?

I have been totally spoiled by my 'Fall into Autumn' dishcloth pal...Alison made me the most gorgeously soft cloth, which is going to be a face towel for me rather than a flannel. It is larger than a normal flannel and it will dry my face beautifully, I love it! The yarn she used is 'Patagonia' nature cotton by Araucania. I have never ever felt such soft cotton before, it is truly gorgeous and, lucky me, a whole ball of the delicious stuff was included for me to play with! So many yummy goodies, some soap, shaving soap for Barry (he is such a spoilt boy!) , a bar of the most yummy looking chocolate that I am waiting to devour. I answered a question about my idea of luxury and said I would love to be watching a film, knitting, with Barry massaging my feet. So I was sent a pot of some magic cream for him to use. It pongs a bit (eek!!) but it really does soften the feet, like magic really!! (the smell soon diminishes) ;^) Such a thoughtful pal. Thank you Alison, I am so happy with everything you sent me!

Alison wants to know what the word 'pongs' means.....well here is my reply: "haha...it's a bit smelly, not unpleasant but not too pleasant either. Smells earthy, like hay a bit! I do like it, honest I do! I love the results anyway, nothing like having your feet massaged whilst watching a film and knitting!"

Ooh, the tiny bootlets are just adorable, and so fuzzy!

I'm so glad you enjoyed the package - I sure had fun putting it all together and knitting the cloth. But tell me - what does "pongs" mean? Must be one of those British-isms ;)

Enjoy your mum's visit!

Mmmm, I rather like the smell of hay and is this something she made? I need something to work magic on my feet, especially after running around bare feet for several months...
That washcloth is Gorgeous!
Beautiful felted boots.... and oh, the Tulip Cardi, beyond lovely.
So glad to hear your Mum is coming for a stay, looking forward to hearing about the adventures you two get up to :^)

Is the picture of the sweater for Barry? Whoever gets it will be lucky because I love the colors!

It's nice your Mom is coming to visit. Does she live in Ireland? and are you from there?

Great stuff! I love the snugs...you are so good about posting all of your creations. I am slow going at the moment as I am trying to hide it all from the divas so cannot knit as long as I would like...and I can't post on the blog because they now read it to see themselves!!
